The city-wide Neighborhood Conference coming up on Saturday, March 11th at the Knoxville Convention Center. This conference is a great way to become more involved in our neighborhood association.
- Attendees will enjoy breakfast while networking with city and county officials, neighborhood leaders, and other community-minded citizens.
- Twenty workshops will address topics ranging from crime prevention and community schools to creative ways that neighborhoods can build a greater sense of community.
- The City is working to provide opportunities for middle and high school students to attend the conference and learn about local government.
- Attendees will have time to visit over 80 information booths set up by corporate sponsors, governmental agencies, and various neighborhood-related nonprofits such as Keep Knoxville Beautiful and Great Schools Partnership.
- Mayor Rogero will present the Good Neighbor of the Year award.
- Neighborhoods will show off their neighborhood t-shirts and t-shirt contest winners will be announced.
- A continuous-loop slide show in the ballroom will feature scenes from neighborhood cleanups, social gatherings, and other events.
- Each attendee will receive a conference binder that includes sponsor recognitions, hand-outs, and other materials.
- Drawings for a wide variety of donated door prizes will take place at the end of the conference.
The Office of Neighborhoods is also taking nominations for the Diana Conn Good Neighbor of the Year Award. Mayor Madeline Rogero presents this award annually to a City of Knoxville resident who --- in the spirit of cooperation and with commitment to inclusive community --- has devoted time and talent in service to his or her neighbors and neighborhood. The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 4:30 p.m.
