Timbercrest Pool Newsletter, June, 2023

It’s the time of year where the pool board reminds everyone of the rules, policies, and procedures of the pool.

Gate lock

We will be replacing the locking mechanism on the gate with an egress bar. We will keep you informed as we complete that process.

Bring your key every time you come to the pool. Don’t rely on someone else being there to let you in or out. Don’t swim alone.

Contact information

If you have a concern, question, or issue at the pool, contact the pool board. If we don't know about something, we can't address it. Here are ways you can contact us:

  1. Email: pool@timbercrestneighborhood.org
  2. On-call board member personal contact info posted on the bulletin board
  3. Pool phone number: (865) 297-3374‬
  4. Website contact form: https://timbercrestneighborhood.org/contact
  5. Facebook group: https://facebook.com/groups/timbercrestpool
  6. Talk to us in person

This contact info is also on the bulletin board and the pool website: https://timbercrestneighborhood.org/pool

Sign in and guests

All members must sign in as they enter the pool premises. We ask you to sign in for insurance purposes. This helps us keep track of how many visitors the pool has on any given day. We can demonstrate who was at the pool if an insurance claim is needed. Sign in is also used to adjust chemicals based on swimmer load. It just takes a few seconds. Make it a habit.

Guests must be signed in as well. Guest fees are $5.00 per person for each visit. Put your payment in the box, give it to a board member, or pay online. One guest pass can be used in lieu of one guest fee. Out-of-town guests are free for the day. Each guest is limited to 5 visits per season. The number of guests per day is limited to 4.

By-Laws, Policies, and Rules of TRC

You can review the By-Laws, Policies, and Rules of TRC on the bulletin boards above the sign in table and on the website (requires login): https://timbercrestneighborhood.org/pool/policies

Now, on to the fun stuff!

Snow cones!

Dally’s Gourmet Snow Cones sets up on the weekends subject to availability. They sell them until they’re gone. Snow-cones are a very delicious treat to enjoy by the pool. They appreciate everyone’s business and look forward to serving you more of Dally’s Gourmet Snow Cones this summer.

Food trucks

We are inviting food trucks to the pool and park. Let the pool board or Jennifer Kerr know if you have ideas or contacts for a food truck.

Events

Let us know if you have an idea for an event or want to help with planning and execution. The events calendar will be posted on the bulletin board and online: https://timbercrestneighborhood.org/calendar

Movie nights

We have two movie nights planned in the next four weeks. There are likely to be more. We have a large screen television so we can start earlier.

June 23 - Family movie night. We will decide on a family friendly movie to enjoy together. Float in the pool or hang out in the loungers. Movie night is always a good time. Details of starting time to come. We squeeze in two movies in an evening. It’s like a float-in theater.

July 14 - Kid-free night (21+ please). It will be a night to enjoy the pool and the camaraderie of our neighbors. There will be movies playing, but there’s plenty of room to just hang out if you’d rather do that. For some reason the pool board decided "adult movie night" wasn't quite appropriate. Albright Grove will be bringing some beer. If you haven’t checked out Albright Grove yet, go try a beer or two. Great place, great people. https://albrightgrovebrewing.com

Lessons

The pool allows private swim instruction, provided that the instructor or student are pool members. Thomas from All Knox Swim has taught several of our pool members over the past few years.

All Knox Swim provides personalized swimming and water safety instruction that will help you and your family safely enjoy all types of water. We offer private swim lessons for ages 1 to adult. All lessons are taught by highly trained instructors using the curriculum created by the owner, who has degrees in Kinesiology and Special Education and swam for an NCAA DI swim team. Join us in making Knoxville "A Drowning Free Knoxville" while taking your swimming to the next level! https://allknoxswim.com/

Parties

Contact the pool board to schedule a party. Details and stipulations are in the rules and policies. We encourage parties to be later in the afternoon or on weekdays to avoid peak hours. To check availability see the events calendar on the bulletin board and online: https://timbercrestneighborhood.org/calendar

New grill

We have a new grill! Members are welcome to use the grills. Please keep them clean and in good working order. Let the board know if the propane is out or there is another issue with the grills.

Park Cleanup

The next park cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, July 9th from 9-11am. We really need your help with park cleanup.

Let your neighbors know about the pool

Several of our members join to support the pool but rarely use it. They view the pool as an asset to all of us, a landmark to be preserved. Our best advertisement is word of mouth. If your neighbor is unsure they want to join or donate, bring them as a guest. Any guest passes spent on a Timbercrest neighbor can be applied to their membership fee.

Donate

The Timbercrest Pool enriches our community, increases our property value, and beautifies the neighborhood. This year we were able to replace three tables and re-roof the pool house. We are saving up for several large projects like replacing the concrete deck and resurfacing the pool interior. You might have noticed we didn’t paint this year. Your donation helps us maintain and improve this great resource. To donate visit: https://timbercrestneighborhood.org/donating

Food City gift cards

Guest passes can be earned by purchasing $100 worth of Food City gift cards from Greg Locke (865-684-3699). Gift cards are available in $25, $50, or $100 denominations. The pool earns $5 from each $100 worth of gift cards, which adds up quickly.

Survey

The pool board would like to know your opinion about the pool. One way to tell us what you think is to fill out the 2023 Timbercrest Pool Survey: https://forms.gle/2q7LACcMErd8QtVs5

Everyone is welcome to fill out the survey. We learn a lot, even from those who choose not to join the pool. Contact us for a paper survey.
