If you are cooking for a crowd on Thanksgiving or over the holidays and you need the oven or stove top space reserved for other items, this is a great way to feed a crowd this side dish!
SLOW COOKER STUFFING
- 1 c. butter
- 2 c. diced celery
- 1-1/2 c. diced onion
- 8 oz. sliced fresh mushrooms
Saute the above ingredients until soft in a frying pan, then pour into your slow cooker, which is set to low.
Add the (4) ingredients below to slow cooker:
- 14 oz bag stuffing mix (Brownberry, Pepperidge Farm...whatever you prefer)
- 2 t. poultry seasoning
- 1/4 c. fresh, chopped parsley
- 4 c. chicken stock or broth
Mix all together and cook for 2-3 hours, on low in slow cooker.
You can add/optional cooked pork sausage, dried fruit or whatever you like in your stuffing before the final 2-3 hour cooking process, to customize to your taste.
