Last day of swimming will be Sun. Sept. 17, 2023

The pool closing date has been moved up to September 18. The last day of swimming will be Sunday September 17.

There are two reasons we decided to move closing up a week.

Firstly, we are vacuuming every day. That is too much for the pool board to maintain for two more weeks. Training volunteers to vacuum takes time that we don’t have as school and activities ramp up. Leaves and pollen are beginning to fall into the pool at a higher rate. That’s normal for this time of year, but those additional organics are more stuff we have to remove from the pool.

Secondly, chemicals are low, purposefully, at the end of the season. We do not want to purchase additional chemicals for the last week, especially chlorine. As we look forward to off season work, one of the improvements we are considering is a salt system to reduce the long term cost and effort of maintaining the tablet chlorinator.

The Timbercrest pool season has been longer than other pools. Many are open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. That is the season we use as our official dates. This year we opened a week early and stayed open two weeks later. Even with seven days of unplanned closure this season we had a long pool season.

We will need off-season volunteers to paint the underside of the roof, stack furniture, maintain the park, and improve the driveway. Be on the lookout for volunteer activities.

There are big plans for some improvements and repairs in the off season that will help the pool continue long into the future. Once we solidify those plans we will share them with the pool membership.

Enjoy the pool this weekend. We expect a bunch of members will be around on Sunday.
