Spring Newsletter, 2020

We have decided not to have a Spring Member Meeting in 2020. Our annual member meeting at the end of the pool season. Here are some ways to stay engaged: comment, fill out a survey, contact the board, start a discussion in the forums, volunteer, and maybe even come to the pool.

COVID-19 measures

Everyone has done a great job reading and following the posted signs. Please continue to do so to help us stay open. As the pool season ramps up, the pool will be crowded. Be sure to respect your fellow members just as you are now. You can read more about our COVID-19 measures: https://timbercrestneighborhood.org/content/timbercrest-pool-covid-19-response

Coping and repairs

The pool board did a lot of work this year. We had poured concrete coping installed. We repaired the skimmer boxes, painted the pool, repaired cracks in concrete, replaced pump valves, and more. The hard work of our volunteers seems to have really paid off. https://timbercrestneighborhood.org/content/pool-coping-update

Finances

The bill for the coping has been paid. We have enough money from membership fees to cover operating costs for 2020 and replenish our long term planning funds. Neighbors have expressed interest in supporting the pool. Thank you to our sponsor members: https://timbercrestneighborhood.org/content/become-sponsor-member

Membership

This is a record breaking year for the number of pool members. As of June 7, we have over 80 memberships. Your word of mouth has helped us grow. Thank you.

Park Work Days

We will start Park Work Days on the second Saturday of each month from 12-2pm. The next Park Work Day will be June 13. Bring yard equipment and cleaning supplies to help. We need rakes, weed eaters, buckets, and rags.

Volunteer opportunities

To everyone who has volunteered at the pool this year, thank you. We have volunteer opportunities available: https://timbercrestneighborhood.org/content/volunteer-tasks-2020

Board voting

We will be voting on the board at the fall meeting because this is the second year of our two year term. Be sure to come vote.

Calendar of events

This year will be a fun year at the pool. We have plans for movie nights, a cornhole tournament, and food trucks. If you have ideas or want to help plan these events, let us know!

Also, we are expanding our annual Chili Cook-off in October. We are still planning, but we expect to have a craft fair, baked good competition, and homebrew exhibition. We’re letting you know now so you can prepare. It will be a great time. We’re calling it Timberfest. More to come!
