As many of the Timbercrest residents are aware, our park has recently been designated smoke free. It is important that our children have a clean place to play without being exposed to the dangers of second-hand smoke. This is part of our effort to become a Healthier Tennessee Neighborhood.
Unfortunately, tobacco use contributes to 480,000 deaths in the U.S. each year and smoking is the leading cause of preventable death. In Tennessee alone, thousands of young people start smoking every day. Although many adult cigarette smokers want to quit smoking, it can be extremely difficult to stop.
If you use tobacco products and want to quit, help is available. Call the Tennessee Tobacco Quitline at 1-800-QUIT-NOW. Quitting smoking isn’t easy. You don’t have to stop smoking in one day - let the Great American Smokeout event on November 15th be your day to start your journey toward a smoke-free life.
